Teaching Inverses of Functions and Relations – Ideas You Have Not Used … Yet!
When: Tuesday, April 1, 2025 | 7 p.m. Central timeTechnology: TI-84 Plus Series, TI‑Nspire™ Series
Presenter: Tom Reardon
There are cool features on your graphing calculator that can assist your students to explore and conceptually understand how to form inverses of relations and discover their properties.
Join this webinar to learn new teaching and technology ideas! During this session, you will explore how to:
- Use lists to create relations and their inverses.
- Use the ‘Draw’ features to electronically perform the vertical line test and to create graphs of inverses.
- Allow your students to discover that graphs of relations and inverses are symmetric about y = x.
- Use graphs and tables simultaneously to discover how the ordered pairs are “just” switched.
- Have your students discover that the composition of inverse functions yields the identity function.
- Develop the graph of the inverse cos relation and the graph of the inverse cos function, domain and range.
