In this activity, students' will use a motion detector to determine what effect the speed at which a person moves has on the appearance of the Distance versus Time plot.
Using a CBR2 to measure distance, students investigate the relationship between the speed of walking and the distance-time plot. First students walk a slow steady rate.
Then students walk a faster rate than before. Comparing the two distance-time plots, students are to state the relationship between rate of motion and the appearance of the graph.
To apply their reasoning, students predict the appearance of a walk done at two different rates and then walk to see if their predition is correct.
