During the European TI-Nspire™ Science Pilot 2010–2012, a group of teachers gathered to explore the value of TI-Nspire™ technology for science education more closely. The group was composed of representatives of eight European countries, very experienced T3 trainers with many years of experience in running sessions on national and international level, and teachers teachers using the technology for the first time.
The Case for CAS sets out to provide a persuasive case for the use of CAS. CAS presents some interesting challenges to teaching and learning mathematics and assessing achievement. Since the idea first came up, contributions have been submitted from Austria, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, France, Scotland and Switzerland.
TI-Interactive! once has been a standalone software. The powerful concept of interactive mathematical word processing is integrated today in TI-Nspire CX (CAS) hardware, software and app in form of Interactive Notes application.
On TI-84 Plus CE-T and TI-83 Premium CE a variety of additional applications can be loaded The use of APPS increases the self-activity of the students, makes the visualization of problems easier and creates a useful integration of technology during problem solving.
The examples developed in this project demonstrate the value and possibilities of using TI-Nspire™ CAS technology for teaching, learning and understanding mathematics in engineering courses. A solution is shown using two different approaches. This is rarely seen in textbooks and sometimes impossible to achieve without CAS technology.
