Students will use a Vernier Colorimeter to determine the relationship between concentration and absorbance of nickel sulfate solution (Beer's law). They will then determine the concentration of a unknown sample using the standard curve.
A colorimeter is used to make a reference curve with the goal of determining the concentration of an unknown sample.
The linear regression of the data collected is used to find an estimate of the unknown sample. The absorbance of the unknown is used and the intersection is calculated to give the unknown concentration.
