Science: Vernier - pH

by Vernier Software & Technology

Overview

Students use a pH sensor to measure the pH level of water in a stream or lake. They examine how air pollutants like sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and carbon dioxide cause acid rain, which affects the pH of water bodies and aquatic organisms.

Key Steps

  • Image

Students gather the pH levels in local bodies of water. Using the Single Point method averages pH readings over 10 seconds.

If students are sampling from several locations, Events with Entry can be used to collect the data.
