Students will review some of the terms associated with prime factors. A Frayer Model (Square) is provided allowing the teacher to assess students’ knowledge of the concept prime.
Students will practice factoring using a factor tree, and writing the prime factorization in exponent form. They will also use division to obtain the prime factors of several numbers.
A possible extension includes finding a common denominator for two fractions by finding the prime factorization.
